Saturday night at 1:30 am, officers investigated a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision at E. Alisal at Wood St. They located the victim, on the north sidewalk of the intersection, he was deceased at the scene. Victim identification is pending.

Officers from the collision investigation team were called out to the scene. The driver of the vehicle Elizabeth Amezcua (38) remained on scene and cooperated in the investigation. There was major damage to the front of her vehicle.

Based on the initial investigation it appears the victim was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk northbound on E. Alisal St. when he was struck by the vehicle. Amezcua showed signs of being under the influence. She was arrested after she was evaluated for driving under the influence of drugs.

Amezcua was later booked into county jail for felony driving under the influence and driving without a license. The investigation of the collision is ongoing with possible additional charges.

Additionally, another driver traveling east on Alisal St. collided with a patrol car that was blocking the roadway as our investigators worked on the initial fatal collision. The driver of this vehicle was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
