Family notifications have been made and Salinas PD has identified the two victims as Michael David Ramos (33) Salinas resident and Amanda Nicole Ferrell (30) city of Gonzales resident.

Yesterday at 12:35 pm Salinas Police Officers responded to a report of a victim of a shooting near the intersection of E. Bernal Dr. and Maryal Dr. On arrival they located an adult male victim 33 years of age and an adult female victim 30 years of age suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers and Salinas Fire Personnel attempted life saving measures on the male victim however he succumbed to his injuries. The female victim was transported to a local hospital however she also died as a result of her injuries. The identities of both victims are being withheld at this time pending notification of family members. Witnesses described an unknown type vehicle driving eastbound on E. Bernal after the shooting however it is unknown at this point if the vehicle was involved in the incident.

Saturday night at 1:30 am, officers investigated a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision at E. Alisal at Wood St. They located the victim, on the north sidewalk of the intersection, he was deceased at the scene. Victim identification is pending.

On 7/22/2021, agents of the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) along with Salinas Police Department officers arrested Jaqueline Bravo (30) at the Hacieda Mexican Grill on Davis Rd. for serving a minor and a probation violation. Candy Soto (29) was cited for selling alcohol to minors at Taqueria El Chavinda on Williams Rd. The actions were the result of a minor decoy operation in which minors under the direct supervision of department agents, attempted to purchase alcohol from ten retail licensees in the city of Salinas.

On 7/12/21 at 12:34 pm, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation with several gun shots detected in the 200 block of California St. As officers arrived, they contacted a 38-year-old male victim of a gunshot wound. The victim was walking in the 200 block of California St. when 2 male suspects approached him and shot him before running to a dark sedan and fleeing. Injuries do not appear to be life threatening. On 7/11/2021 at 3;07 pm, officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision in the 1700 block of Independence Blvd. Callers reported a vehicle had crashed into an apartment. Officers contacted the driver, Mario Rojas (42) and a 4-year-old child, still inside the vehicle, inside a residence. The child was in the backseat, was not restrained, and suffered a minor injury.

On November 19, 1999 Elias Gutierrez Diaz (39), owner of Country Motors Auto Dealership was shot and killed in front of his business located at 435 E. Alisal St. On Wednesday, July 7th the Salinas Police Department arrested Jimmy Torres Rodriguez (50) at his residence in the City of Tulare for the murder of Elias Diaz. Rodriguez was transported to Monterey County and lodged at the Monterey County Jail.

On Wednesday, July 7th, 2021 at about 2:18 am Salinas Police Officers were dispatched to the area of John Street and Highway 101 for a reported injury traffic collision. Officers located a motorcyclist down in the roadway and a mid-sized SUV with major front-end damage.
